High School Learning Support Teacher
The Schuylkill Haven Area School District is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic High School Learning Support Teacher to join our team. This individual will work collaboratively to provide specially designed instruction and support for students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in grades 8-12.

Qualifications
Required: Pennsylvania certification in Special Education
Preferred: Certification in Secondary Mathematics

  • Demonstrate experience with differentiated instruction and accommodations.

  • Strong understanding of IDEA and Chapter 14 regulations.

  • Effective communication and collaboration skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in compliance with state and federal regulations.

  • Provide direct instruction and support to students, ensuring that their academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs are met.

  • Collaborate with general education teachers to develop and implement accommodations and modifications for students within the general education curriculum.

  • Monitor and report student progress, adjusting instructional strategies as needed to support student growth.

  • Participate in IEP meetings, parent conferences, and other professional development activities.

  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment for all students.

Middle School Math Teacher (Grade 7)
The Schuylkill Haven Area Middle School is seeking a passionate and dedicated 7th Grade Math/Pre-Algebra Teacher who is committed to fostering a supportive and engaging learning environment for all students. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mathematics instruction. They should be driven by a desire to see students excel academically and personally.

Qualifications
Required: Pennsylvania certification in Middle School Mathematics or Secondary Mathematics

  • Demonstrate experience making data based instructional decisions for students.

  • Effective communication and collaboration skills.

 Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver dynamic, hands-on Pre-Algebra lessons that are aligned with curriculum standards and meet the diverse needs of all learners.

  • Use flexible small group instruction to differentiate learning based on students' individual needs and learning styles.

  • Integrate STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) principles into Pre-Algebra lessons and a co-taught STEM course to promote real-world applications of mathematical concepts.

  • Analyze student data regularly to inform instructional decisions and track student progress toward academic goals.

  • Foster a classroom environment focused on student engagement, motivation, and a growth mindset.

  • Collaborate with colleagues, administrators, and support staff to develop strategies that promote academic achievement and student development.

  • Communicate regularly with parents and guardians to share student progress and build a strong home-school partnership.

  • Participate in professional development opportunities to continue personal growth and stay current with best practices in education.

Secondary Math Teacher (Long-term Substitute)
A vacancy exists for a long-term substitute in the high school beginning mid-November through the end of the 2024-25 school year. PA certification is required in Mathematics 7-12.

Spelling Bee Coordinator
The coordinator is responsible to oversee the spelling bee to include:  testing, practice, and competitions. The spelling bee is for student participants in grades 4-8.
Testing: Administer and mark qualifying test for all interested participants; determine final selection of spelling bee representatives/alternates.
Practice: Weekly practices lasting approximately 1.5 hours in duration (October – March).
Competition – Attend regional spelling bee competition.
