A group of sixth and seventh grade student representatives attended the county Aevidum training at Minersville Junior/Senior High School. Our middle school will begin our Aevidum club, which will continue providing mental health support and awareness. Aevidum is Latin for “I’ve got your back” and is a student run mental health program. Advisor Mrs. McDonald was also in attendance and is currently collaborating with our High School Aevidum club for future events.

Mr. Dean’s 7th grade guidance class has been working on an Everfi activity called the “Compassion Project.” This program has students make real life decisions about navigating social media, building positive relationships, and reflecting on their own emotions. Today, the class joined a Zoom call with Philadelphia Eagles defensive end Brandon Graham. They discussed mental wellness, resolving conflicts, and violence prevention.

The fall fundraiser orders have arrived at the middle school. We will begin sending smaller orders home with students today. Orders will also be available for parent pickup starting today from 3:00 - 4:00 at the main office. Orders can also be picked up tomorrow all day. If you need any other accommodations for pickup, please call the main office at (570) 385-6709 to make arrangements.

The Schuylkill Haven Area Middle School will be having their Veterans Day ceremony at 1:00 PM in the middle school auditorium on Friday, November 11. If you know of any veterans that have students in the school and would like to be recognized by our students, please let them know. They should arrive at the middle school office on Rotary Lane no later than 1:00 PM and we will escort them to the auditorium. We encourage any veterans to wear their uniform. Our guest speaker will be in Schuylkill Haven’s own Colonel Howard “Chip” Hall US Marine Corps.
